EA Hits The Turf With 'Madden NFL 10' Marketing

Electronic Arts said that Madden NFL 10 will hit retail on Aug. 14, with marketing starting this month to get the juices flowing. EA begins the march to the Madden NFL 10 with a "There Can Only Be One" campaign that will unveil possible cover candidates. (The Madden NFL 09 box featured Brett Favre and received tremendous press as it hit stores at the same time that the QB was being traded from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets.) This year's efforts are anchored by a dedicated Web site,, where several potential covers will be unveiled until the official announcement on April 24. One possible hint: The first screen shot released from the game was Ben Roethlisberger from the Super Bowl XLIII champion Pittsburgh Steelers. The other candidates, according to EA, include Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings) and Ed Reed (Baltimore Ravens). On April 25, the Web site will turn into the Madden NFL 10 Draft Experience, which will coincide with the NFL draft on April 25-26. Included will be live call-ins from NFL players, on-site correspondents from the draft in New York, and social networking feeds and photos from the NFL draft.
