MLB ’26 Sked: Return To Field Of Dreams, Visit To Las Vegas, 9-11 25th Memorial

August 26, 2025: MLB today officially unveiled the full schedule for the 2026 regular season, with history from start to finish, and stops at Field of Dreams, the All-Star Game celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence, a trip to Las Vegas and a 25th memorial of 9-11 en route.
The 2026 season is scheduled to begin March 25 — the earliest opening in MLB history — with a standalone Opening Night game when the San Francisco Giants host the New York Yankees in Oracle Park.
That will be followed by a 14-game Opening Day schedule March 26 — also the earliest scheduled traditional Opening Day ever for MLB.
The final day of the regular season is scheduled for Sept. 27, the earliest since 2020.
Teams have released their respective schedules, as well, most with marketing support (see below).
All 30 teams are scheduled to play on Jackie Robinson Day (April 15), Lou Gehrig Day (June 2) and Roberto Clemente Day (Sept. 15), with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates all at home to celebrate each respective occasion.
A two-game in series in Mexico City between the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks will be on April 25-26.
MLB will stage in 2026 another "Rivalry Weekend" from May 15-17.
Featured regional rivalry games include the Yankees at New York Mets, Chicago Cubs at White Sox, Kansas City Royals at St, Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers at Houston Astros, Baltimore Orioles at Washington Nationals and Dodgers at Anaheim Angels.
Although their ballpark will still be under construction and the the team will play the 2026 season (and possibly 2027) in Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, the A’s are heading to Las Vegas next season.
They will host back-to-back series in Las Vegas Ballpark, home of the Las Vegas Aviators, June 8-10 (vs. the Milwaukee Brewers) and June 12-14 (vs. the Colorado Rockies).
In honor of the 250th anniversary of American independence, the 96th annual All-Star Game will be played in Citizens Bank Park Philadelphia on Tuesday, July 14, the first to be hosted by the Phillies since 1996 and the first to take place in Citizens Bank Park, which opened in 2004.
The Home Run Derby is scheduled for July 13, with numerous MLB- and American independence-related events the preceding weekend and following week.
In August, MLB will return to a Dyersville, Iowa, for The Field of Dreams Game between the Phillies and “host” Minnesota Twins Aug. 16. The Yankees and White Sox played there in 2021, and the Cubs and Cincinnati Reds in 2022, but it has since been closed for renovations.
The Yankees will host the Mets in Yankee Stadium Sept. 11-13, marking the 25th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
MLB said off-days were built into the schedule to accommodate the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup matches in stadiums that share parking lots.
That includes June 17 and July 3 at Arlington, Texas; June 20 and July 3 at Kansas City, Missouri; and June 19 and July 1 at Seattle.
Broadcast partners for games in 2026 are TBD.
According to CNBC, “MLB is nearing a finalized agreement with Disney’s ESPN, Comcast’s NBC Sports and Netflix on new three-year media rights deals beginning in 2026.
"NBC would acquire all of the league’s Sunday night games and wild-card playoff games for about $200 million per year. Netflix will get the rights to the Home Run Derby for about $50 million a year, according to two people familiar with the deal.
"ESPN would get a package of rights for $550 million and would also acquire in-market games to five local teams — the Cleveland Guardians, San Diego Padres, Minnesota Twins, Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies — and will get a new midweek package of national games." (See full story here.)
