• The NFL has unveiled the Super Bowl Ticket Giveaway, an initiative this season to "surprise fans across the country with an invitation to attend Super Bowl LII in Minnesota on February 4, 2018. A total of 500 free tickets will be distributed under the program as a way to give back to dedicated NFL fans and provide them with a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

Adidas, Lakers Ring In The New Year

October 27, 2009: It is a new year for the NBA with the official start of the 2009-10 season, and the Los Angeles Lakers will celebrate when Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol, Derek Fisher, head coach Phil Jackson and other team members receive their rings for winning the 2008-09 championship.

The team also will celebrate with a big assist from adidas, which will unveil the Los Angeles Lakers' Champions Collection, a line of commemorative merchandise celebrating the 2008-09 NBA season. The launch of the Lakers' Champions Apparel Collection coincides with the start of the 2009-10 NBA season and the Lakers’ home opener on Oct. 27 against the Los Angeles Clippers, which will be seen on TNT.

The centerpiece of the collection is the adidas Anniversary Jacket, a special track jacket the Lakers will wear on court on opening night at the Staples Center when they receive their championship rings and raise their 15th championship banner. The jacket features 15 gold star patches on the back, one in honor of each championship dating back to the franchise's origin in Minneapolis, and is designed in the Lakers team color with adidas’ signature three-stripes down the arms in yellow gold.

This is the second consecutive year the NBA and adidas, the league’s official outfitter, have created a full line of merchandise celebrating the team that won the NBA championship, following the Boston Celtics collection last season to commemorate the team's 2007-08 NBA title.

In addition to the Anniversary jacket, the team will wear a special shooting shirt and will have a Champions patch on their jerseys featuring the Larry O’Brien Trophy and the No. 15 to represent the Lakers' NBA titles. Adidas also created a full line of head wear that features the Champions patch and a flat-brimmed hat with 15 replica championship banner patches.

The collection also includes a limited-edition Spalding “Banner” Ball," which is a vintage-style basketball that features images of each of Lakers' 15 championship banners on the front; a 2008-09 NBA Champions DVD with an inside look at the Lakers’ successful regular season, triumphant playoff run and victory in the finals against the Orlando Magic, as well as other commemorative items.

The Los Angeles Lakers Champions Collection will be available online at NBAStore.com, Champs Sports, Fanzz and the Team LA Shop at the Staples Center.

“The Lakers have some of the most passionate fans in sports and the Champions Collection is a great way for Lakers’ fans to celebrate when the team raises its 15th banner and begins a new season,” Lisa Piken, senior director of the NBA Global Merchandising Group, said in a statement. “Last year’s Boston Celtics collection was well received by our fans and we want to continue the tradition of honoring the Championship team at the beginning of each season.”
