• For the 15th consecutive year, ESPN will present the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship in its entirety, with the 15-game, 16-team tournament beginning with regional action March 29-31 and concluding with the Frozen Four on April 11 and 13. The Frozen Four will be in Buffalo, NY, with all three games on ESPN2.

• The NFL's 100th season will begin with the Chicago Bears hosting the Green Bay Packers in Soldier Field on Thursday, Sept. 5 (NBC, 8:20 PM ET). This will be the 199th meeting between the Bears and Packers, including regular- and post-season. Super Bowl champion New England Patriots will begin their season on NBC Sunday Night Football Sept. 8. Their opponent will be named when the full 2019 regular season schedule is released later this spring.

• Kraft Heinz, in partnership with the NHL and NHLPlayers’ Association (NHLPA) has unveiled the top four finalist communities competing for the coveted title of Kraft Hockeyville USA 2019. Voting begins March 30.

• NBA Experience, the new destination coming to Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort (Orlando) will officially open Aug. 12, 2019. In collaboration with the NBA, Disney is developing NBA Experience with 13 interactive elements and hands-on activities across 44,000 square feet and two floors, also including a NBA-themed retail store.

• D.G. Yuengling & Son brewery has signed a deal with Philadelphia Phillies' pitcher Aaron Nola, making him one of the first active, MLB players to have a partnership with a beer brand. Yuengling has been a sponsor of the Phillies since 2017,

• MLB and the MLB Players’ Assn. have unveiled numerous changes to the game to be installed over the next two seasons that will impact game length, marketing broadcast partners, the All-Star Game and the Home Run Derby. Full story here.

5-Hour Energy Gets Official Roster, Marketing Status For '17-18 All-Star Games

April 11, 2017: Baseball games usually take about three hours to play.

But MLB is looking at a different time frame via a new alliance with Living Essentials, LLC, the makers of 5-Hour Energy shots.

The brand has signed a deal to become an official partner for the 2017 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard this July in Miami.

It also will be the official partner for the 2018 MLB All-Star Game in Nationals Park, home of the Washington Nationals.

Financial terms of the pact were not shared.

To launch the alliance, Living Essentials has created a new flavor, Apple Pie Extra Strength 5-Hour Energy, which features a limited-edition MLB logo on the label of the bottle.

Marketing will include the tag, "When life is like Game 7," and feature a TV spot starring Jose Altuve, All-Star second baseman for the Houston Astros, touting Apple Pie Extra Strength 5-Hour Energy.

The brand said it would have activation around 2017 MLB All-Star Week, as well as sampling at MLB All-Star FanFest and other MLB All-Star Week events.

Among other deals, 5-Hour Energy has supported WWE, including the recent WrestleMania 33.

Marketing will include the tag, "When life is like Game 7," and feature a TV spot with Jose Altuve, All-Star second baseman for the Astros.

According to Living Essentials, to celebrate its status as an official partner of the 2017 MLB All-Star Game, "We are introducing Apple Pie Extra Strength flavor. With its delicious Apple Pie taste, it’s sure to deliver in the clutch.

"And of course it has zero sugar, four calories and the hard-working blend of vitamins, nutrients and caffeine that have made Extra Strength 5-Hour Energy the No. 1 line of energy shots in the U.S.”

"We are very excited to work with Major League Baseball as an official MLB All-Star Game partner, and we're thrilled that MLB-themed Apple Pie flavored Extra Strength 5-Hour Energy is now available to our fans throughout the baseball season," Melissa Skabich, communications director for Living Essentials, said in a statement.
